Style at Any Size: Fabletics

Happy International Women’s Day, friends! My sister-in-law, Nora, and I thought it would be the perfect time for a Style at Any Size, featuring a look that makes us feel strong and confident! If you are new to this series, Style at Any Size was birthed from our mutual love of classic style, and unwavering passion for #twinning. It’s a happy place, where we both style the same look, outfit, or pièce de résistance, showing that no matter your size or appearance, every woman should be able to look and feel amazing. After years of coordinating our outfits, regardless of our different figures and personal twists on classic style, it became clear that we wanted to share our mantra that all bodies are beautiful, and everyone is uniquely stylish. We both feel strongly that no matter the occasion, or the activity, you should be able to express your personal style with confidence, and not make compromises because of your size, shape or the skin you’re in! We are so excited for this installment of Style at Any Size, because we’re styling a favorite brand of ours, that embodies everything this series stands for: size-inclusivity, original style and female empowerment! However, you do not need to become a member in order to shop (you just don’t get the discount)! You can also skip months if you are not in need of any activewear at that moment. 

Whether you are a lounger, a runner, a yogi, or simply on-the-go, there are various lines and items, specifically tailored for different modes of activity, in all sizes! No matter if we are running to the grocery store, catching a flight, hitting the gym, or just hangin’, you can find us in our athleisure! However, not all leggings are created equal, and Fabletics makes some of the best activewear, for going anywhere. 

MY OUTFIT: 

I love fun activewear sets, but it was nearly impossible to find the cute looks I was seeing on Instagram, in my size. Until, I found Fabletics. Fabletics were early pioneers of extended-size activewear, and created the same on-trend sets for their plus lines that they did for their straight-sized lines. When I initially tried the brand, I went in with mild expectations because I thought, how could they be that great, have my size, and be affordable? Well, somehow, some way, they are all three. I have worn them for years and recently became a member, (you can freeze your account when you need to, which has been so important for me!) and I am so glad I did. These pieces not only make me feel comfortable, but they make me feel empowered and confident!

I chose the Phoenix set in this fun fuchsia color, because I am always down for a Malibu Barbie moment. The Phoenix set can be purchased together or as separates, and consists of the Trinity Mid-Rise ⅞ Pocket and the Trinity High Impact Sports Bra, which I paired with the Marin sneakers.  If you aren’t comfortable showing your midsection, they have cute tanks that can be thrown on over the sets, still showing off the matching pieces! Typically, I get high-rise, but this mid-rise still hits in a comfortable place where I feel supported and held in in the right spots. The material is thick but breathable and the plus-size fit is really tailored to plus proportions, and they do not roll down! The leggings have a cute thigh pocket, and for someone like me who uses leggings more so for athleisure, the pocket is great for my phone when I am grabbing coffee. For the same kind of reason, I love these Marin sneakers! They are perfect for running errands and going on walks. 

Being large chested, having structured, high-impact sports bras are a necessity for both my health and my comfort. These sports bras prevent my back pain that I tend to get post-workout, because they have proper support. But they are still cute! When I go to a yoga class, it can be disheartening when women have dainty, delicate and pretty sports bras on, and you have on what could be loosely described as a life preserver. These are stylish, cute, AND supportive. I feel like I can walk into class with confidence that I’ll be as stylish as the rest, and, more importantly, comfortable. Overall, I love this set and there is a reason I keep coming back year after year. Fabletics truly is the best and I cannot recommend them enough, for any woman, any size. But, especially if you struggling to find something size-inclusive, cute, and makes you feel amazing, inside and out, this is the brand for you.

NORA’S OUTFIT:

Confession: I’m typically pretty boring when it comes to workout clothes. I don’t like to spend a lot, I want to be comfortable and I want my clothes to stand up to washing and drying because, let’s be honest, I don’t always (or ever) hang dry my workout apparel . I also only buy a specific color palette (black, grey and white) so that I can mix and match everything in my drawer with ease. That being said, I’m also really picky (more on that to come) so I typically just stick to a few brands that I know work for me. Elsa had been encouraging me to try Fabletics for ages (she’s a member!) and I finally gave in. YOU GUYS. All I can say is – WHY did I not try the brand SOONER?!

Let’s chat about this outfit and how it won me over. First of all, it fits all of my criteria – the price is great and the pieces are incredibly comfortable, stand up to washing/drying and are the right color . They are also A++ when it comes to fit. Fun fact about me: I hate sports bras. I have a small-ish chest (32B 1/2 to be exact) but a wide-set ribcage, so when I buy for my chest size, I feel like I’m suffocating but when I buy for comfort, I can’t fill out the chest. It’s incredibly frustrating! I followed the Fabletics-specific size guide for my Mila Medium Impact Sports Bra and, to my delight, I can breathe and the girls are in place! Mind. Blown. I love that the bra is supportive enough for most activities (I’m more of a low impact gal) and comfy enough for walks and hangin’ around.

I paired the top with the matching Mila High Waisted Pocket Capri because, well, there’s nothing cuter than a matching set! I have a long torso and am least confident about my middle, so finding pants with the right rise that I feel good in can be an issue. Workout pants are the toughest, because they are so form fitting! Thankfully, the waistband on these pants hit me at the perfect spot and is wide enough to hold me in without making me feel trapped or squished. I can thank Fabletics’ signature Powerhold fabric for that: it’s soft and buttery but with the highest compression so it held me in without restricting my movement. Bonus – these crops have a pocket on the leg to hold your phone or keys! I followed the size guide but could have done a size up, too.

Last but not least – the shoes. They feel very Yeezy-esque but for a fraction of the cost. Comfortable, supportive enough for my (very) high arches and cute to boot – I can’t ask for much more than that! I wore them with my fave no-show socks.

Needless to say, I love this Mila set and wear it on the reg – separately and together. I’m beyond happy with my first Fabletics pieces and more importantly, I love how confident I feel in them. Now I’m just waiting for Elsa to say she told me so!
