Fashion and style are something both of us love, and as you guys know, helping others is something even more important to us. So, when we heard the news that Talbots was launching a new collection with O, The Oprah Magazine benefiting Dress for Success (DFS), we were so excited. One of the reasons we love Talbots so much, aside from their dedication to classic style, is that they are always in the camp of women supporting women and are always giving back. This is their 5th year in a row to collaborate with O, The Oprah Magazine to benefit Dress for Success: if you aren’t familiar, Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization that provides women with professional attire, and, more importantly, the skills and tools needed to succeed financially, professionally, and in everyday life. So if you’re like us and you love classic style and giving back then this is the cause for you.
This year’s limited edition collection is called “Cardis with a Cause” and consists of five cardigans, each with a unique design, so there’s something for everyone! Could the cardigans be any cuter?! We think not. The campaign is running between 2/18-3/29 and there are a few ways you can get involved! Simply by shopping the new collection, you can make a difference because 30% of the net proceeds directly benefits DFS. If you aren’t looking to add something to your wardrobe, don’t fret! You can still participate by cleaning out your closet and donating nearly new workwear to your local Talbots from 2/20-2/24. And last but not least, you can always make a financial donation. Head to Talbots or Talbots.com from 2/18-3/29 to donate and help give women in need a fresh start at work and life.
As two administrative professionals (in our 9-5’s, that is), we are particularly passionate about this organization. Every morning before work, we both wake up and reach into our closets for the right outfit, the one that has the power to evoke confidence, like an armor that makes us feel unstoppable. These cardigans are a prime example of a wardrobe workhorse that we’ll turn to time and time again. We love their versatility and that while they are office appropriate, their fun patterns and prints make them fun for weekend wear, too. So, we each styled a look around our favorite cardigans with fresh styles from Talbots’ March Collection!
NORA: I’m a sucker for stripes and fell head over heels for this cardigan! I love that it is cream and black – the two dominant colors in my closet – and that the bold stripes are accented by ties at the sleeves – the perfect feminine touch! The longer length and open front make it super versatile, too. While work appropriate, it can just as easily be worn with a casual t-shirt and leggings on the weekends. I went monochromatic and styled mine in head-to-toe neutrals: a crisp white (and non-iron!) button down, white flared denim (high rise, leg lengthening and not the least bit see through), a nude sandal and pearl accented gold hoops (duh).
ELSA: I selected the Chevron cardigan for a few reasons! I love the classic black and white color palette, and also adore the fun, timeless pattern. I find the silhouette to be super flattering on my figure, elongating my body and highlighting my curves. The cotton is oh-so-soft and I have already worn it several times for work and play. The best part of all, my cardigan is available in regular and plus! It makes me over the moon that it is available to both size ranges, giving women of any shape the ability to style their lives while giving back. I styled it with my favorite go-to jegging, these adorable gingham slingbacks (hello, favorite Spring shoe), and a non-iron sleeveless button down (curvy pro-tip: when layering cardigans over button downs, sleeveless is the best way to achieve a smoother look in the arms!).
Thank you to Talbots for partnering on this post!
So great to see Talbots supporting such a great cause! I worked on a PR campaign with DFS in college, so the company is near and dear to my heart. Love seeing how you both styled your cardigans, thanks for bringing awareness to this incredible collaboration!
Thank you, Courtney! It is such a great cause! We are honored to be a part of it.
I love these looks, and especially the cause so much! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, Mindy!
