Simply Summer Essentials

I’m not sure about you, but it felt like we woke up and there were Summer-like temperatures outside! Spring and Fall here in New Jersey are somewhat short lived (sadly), so it’s already poolside weather. That being said, we’re just a few short weeks away from the official start of Summer. So, I wanted to share my Summer essentials that carry me through the season. Some old, some new, these are styles that I always have in my Summer capsule and reach for over and over. When it comes to pieces I wear in the warmer months, they all have to be comfortable, breathable and things I can mix and match easily. Especially with all the doctor appointments I have going on, comfort is key and feeling good in my own skin is important right now. Without further ado, here are some favorites and why I love them for Summer!

ONE SHOULDER RIBBED SUIT I ordered the new version of Summersalt’s Sidestroke suit (my favorite) and I have to say, I’m pretty smitten! The ribbed material feels luxe and the tortoise detail is super chic. There are built in pads/cups, and not the kind that move around that you need to constantly adjust. This one is 10/10, I sized up one.

SHORTLESS SWIM SKIRT I’m so glad that swim skirts are all the rage now, becuase truthfully, I’ve been wearing them for years and think they’re SO cute and comfy. Lands’ End makes my favorites, but I love this Summersalt one because it’s shortless underneath. It can slide up in the pool if you dive in or something like that, but overall it stays in place and is breathable.

EXERCISE DRESS It took me a while to jump on the exercise dress train, but once I have I know I’ll ever look back! My favorite exercise dresses are from Madewell and Girlfriend collective, this GC one has a great size range, the silhouette is phenomenal, and the colors are super cute. Perfect for wanting to look cute but comfy on those hot days.

BUTTON UP COVER UP A good cover up is a must-have for Summer. But a cover up that also doubles as a chic tunic? Pure gold. This button up cover up is the definition of Coastal Grandmother, it’s linen, it’s flowy, and it looks perfect over a swimsuit or paired with cute white cropped jeans.

BLOCK PRINT DRESS I snagged this dress in black and absolutely love it. The block print is so cute and perfect for coastal vibes. This is the kind of dress you can wear everyday with flip-flops, or dress up with jewelry and a good block heel to wear to dinner or an event with friends. It’s very comfortable and effortless, I got my normal size.

WHITE DENIM Perhaps it goes without saying, but a reliable pair of white jeans is a Summer staple. I love Madewell’s denim, especially for extended sizes. I’ve really been leaning into wide leg or cropped straight leg, I think it’s so chic and looks great on everyone. This pair is versatile and easy.

EASY SHORTS It wouldn’t be a Summer essentials roundup without a pair of shorts, right!? TBH, I never really loved shorts, they always ride up and I don’t find them super comfy (I love legging shorts on the other hand). But, Madewell has done a fantastic job with their extended size shorts. Not too long, not too short – just right.

PERFECT T-SHIRT This t-shirt has been my favorite for a couple of Summers now. The sleeves are longer, the silhouette is fitted, and the cotton is substantial. For a flowy and soft t-shirt, I love Sympli Clothing Bamboo tee’s. But, this one is so easy and works with just about everything!

THE BEST TANK I got these tanks from Madewell for the first time this year, and I have to say, they are phenomenal. The cotton is lightweight but significant, there’s a little stretch, the ribbing is so cute. Plus, the neckline compliments everyone. I have been living in these and it’s only the end of May!

VERSATILE FEMININE BLOUSE This blouse is everything! Every Summer, J.Crew comes out with a very lovely eyelet top. This year, I think it’s the perfect silhouette. It has some length without being long, but it’s not boxy or copped by any means. The eyelet is delicate for the season and the neutral warm colors are just ideal.

When it comes to Summer, accessories are the easiest way to feel pulled together. Here are the styles I always have on deck that go with just about anything.
