AFTER!
Sort and Sweet and I had a trade partnership, however I would have worked with them regardless!
The time is finally here! I am going to walk you through my closet organization! I feel so lucky to have worked with Sort and Sweet on this. They are a professional organizing team based in NY, with organizers in NY, NJ, CA, and GA, and also have digital services and education. They are seriously amazing. There is no project too big or too small for them, you have to check out some of their work here. I’ll be the first to admit, when it comes to my closet, I’m a Rachel, not a Monica. So, I knew that I needed help from professionals to find the tools and approaches that would work for me long term. Ironically, I am hyper organized in areas like work, our kitchen and my blog, so I knew that I just was missing something to make it click. Mary and Margaret, the owners of Sort and Sweet, came in and completely worked their magic on my closet. They also did it all within CDC guidelines and were covid compliant, masks, sanitizer and all!
The process was so enjoyable because Mary and Margaret have this incredible energy and enthusiasm for what they do: ORGANIZE!
I instantly felt connected to them and I know anyone who is a client must feel the same way. Their approach is really thoughtful, and they organized with both who I am as an individual and what would work long term in mind. Before we got started, Margaret sent me over a product list of hangers, baskets, clips and organization tools they selected based on images I e-mailed of my space, which I purchased for the project! When the ladies arrived, they took every single item out of my closet and dressers. Margaret said to me “it’s going to look worse before it gets better, but do not worry!” She was so right.
Everything was then organized by category, and they created a “home” for every single thing I had. They created homes I didn’t know would exist, in ways I would have never thought of!
Mary and Margaret also took the time to teach me their logic and lessons along the way, so I could understand why things were done the way they were, not just see the end result. My closet was organized in a way that made sense for what I wear and use the most, and the kind of person I am. They were able to maximize my space in ways I just couldn’t see before! They put temporary labels on things that had new homes so I wouldn’t be confused when it was all said and done. Everything from top to bottom suddenly MADE SENSE! Mary and Margaret also helped me donate over six garbage bags of clothing, bags, and shoes, coaching me along the way.
Sort and Sweet has a big emphasis on maintaining organization, and that it’s not a quick fix. Which Is why I love their virtual services and membership program, Luxe Home Lounge.
So, after we finished the closet, I attended their organization webinar and it motivated me to stay on track, and it was also a ton of fun. So, I was so excited to learn that they expanded their virtual services with a membership program, Luxe Home Lounge, and signed up! The membership is really cool, it’s a community where you get exclusive home organization knowledge and education from Mary and Margaret. You do not need to be a previous client to sign up and there are no strings attached if you do. Every month, they highlight a different room or organization topic, with either a masterclass, PDF, or lesson each week. You can access the modules any time and it’s very well organized, no surprise!
I’m so excited to hang out with them more often! I kind of love that it adds a community and activity to my quarantine routine. They were also (sort and) sweet enough to extend a discount code for anyone who wants to come join me in the community.
For their virtual organization membership community, Luxe Home Lounge, you can get 20% off your first 3 months with a monthly option ($20 from $25) or 20% off the annual rate with code Elsa20 (valid through Oct 31st and you can cancel any time!).
Sort and Sweet gave me so much more than a clean closet, they gave me lessons and invaluable tools that with dedication will last a lifetime. I cannot recommend them enough! Now, here are the before and after!
All the products we used will be linked below!
BEFORE
DURING
Everything came out for evaluation before going back into my closet. Margaret lined up my shoes in my bathroom and I was able to edit down what I truly love and wear.
Before Mary and Margaret came, I donated two bags of clothing that I knew I no longer had use for. After they came, I had six more bags to donate! Plus, the amount of garbage you have in your closet may surprise you: old receipts in purses, paper shopping bags, etc.
AFTER
For my dressers, they used drawer dividers and created Brother P3 Labels for my interiors. To help me acclimate, they placed post-its on the exterior of the drawers so once I get used to where things are, I take them off!

Thank you Sort and Sweet for everything. You changed my ability to feel calm and in control of a place where I spend so much time. Thank you for providing your services and partnering with me, I cannot sing your praises enough.
Awesome job! Organized and such a pretty space to enter, select your clothes and start your day.
Your closet turned out beautiful 😍 I especially like using baskets for the ballet flats. One of my goals for 2021 is to redo my closet and this gives me so many great ideas!
Thank you for sharing your closet organization journey. The end result is lovely and impressive. I’m curious as to what criteria you used for letting go of enough items to fill so many trash bags? I just switched my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter and managed to come up with about 10 items to purge, but want to adopt the mindset of digging deeper. Do you go by whether things “sparked joy” or fit well or frequency of wear? Do you hold onto clothes that are a little too small in case of size fluctuations? Was it hard to purge costly items? What about accessories? Are you regretting anything you let go of? I respect and value your opinions and outlook so would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!
