The more time I spend here at home, the more I play around with my coffee table decor, rearranging and reorganizing what we have to switch things up every so often! In a strange way it keeps me sane, anyone else?! In the middle of my recent refresh, I realized that no matter how many times I move things around, I always love keeping these books on the table. I love design, and I was so blown away from your responses to my art history chat on Instagram stories a few weeks ago, that I thought you might enjoy these books. Although I now work in a different field, I have my Master’s in American Fine and Decorative Art and worked in decor, art and antiques for 7 years, and love to chat design over a cup of coffee or get lost in a super visual design book! So, naturally the books I keep on my coffee table are all interiors or design focused! I promise that you will actually read these and they won’t just be decor (but do make really great decor, ha!). These also make great and unique gifts!
I have been consciously working on also getting to know the work of more Black interior designers and wanted to share this list with you from House Beautiful. I love all of these designers spaces and think you will, too!
- Beautiful by Mark D. Sikes | If you love blue and white interiors, a mix of coastal textiles, antiques, and American style, this is the book for you. This book has become a modern day classic, I would be ready to move into each and every room in this book. Mark is coming out with his second book, More Beautiful, in September!
- The Big Book of Chic by Miles Redd | I remember when I met Miles Redd and his team, and they are some of the coolest, kindest and most interesting people, and his interiors are the same! It was a major design crush moment. His interiors are bold, chic, and collected, each space is a work of art that really tells a story. I’ve had this book for ages and have gifted it on a few occasions, it is pricer but so worth it (and it is massive!).
- Vintage Remix: The Interiors of Kishani Perera | Kishani Perera is the master of mixing old with new, vintage with modern, custom with accessible, and creates eclectic yet classic creates spaces you could only dream of. As a big believer in mixing antiques with livable pieces, I love getting lost in her interiors.
- Styled by Emily Henderson | My brother in law, Christian, gave this to me one year for a gift exchange and it remains one of my favorites! This book has a lot of “how to’s” which is super relatable and helpful, compared to the other books which can feel more aspirational. I love Emily’s easy, eclectic and classic style.
- Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens and People | I love this book because it focuses on houses and their owners, not just one room or a space within it. I could sit with this book all day soaking up the interesting people and creatives within it, not to mention the out of this world homes, gardens and designs.

I enjoy reading about your favorite designer coffee table books. I love to get lost in art and design books!!!!
