Today is a big day! The Nordstrom Anniversary sale opens to the public today. My mindset when shopping the sale is less is more! The NSale is the time to get the quality pieces that can carry your wardrobe into Fall and act as foundational pieces. Today is also a fun day, because Nora and I are styling one of our mutual favorite items in the sale, SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS. Nora and I have similar style mindsets and approaches, but have our own personal takes on classic style. So, we’re each styling our Spanx faux leather leggings 4 ways to show how they work on various body types, ways you can wear them, and why they’re worth it! Stay tuned later today on Instagram for a try on session.
When I first heard of these, I thought they were a little too cool for me lol. BUT, that is NOT the case! When styled with timeless pieces, these look classic yet current. I put my preppy twist on them, and they’ve become some of my closet favorites. They’ve sold out in plus sizes at Nordstrom (they still have straight sizes available). But thankfully, Spanx price-matched them on their site, and they are fully stocked in all sizes! If I could tell you to walk away from the pre-Fall sale season with ONE thing, it would be the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings (okay, and a Barbour jacket, but that is a separate post!). There’s a lot of hype around them, and for good reason. When I put them on, it’s as though I am wearing the most comfortable and supportive pair of pants ever, that feel like a second skin! They go with just about everything, and immediately boost my confidence.
SIZING AND FIT
When it comes to sizing, they generally run pretty true to size, but if you are in-between sizes like I am, or have a curvy bottom half, size up. I am a true 1x but can be in between a 16 and an 18 sometimes. In these, I went up to a 2x, because I find the extra space accommodates my mid-section and bottom areas more. These come in regular and plus sizes. Last winter I got my first pair, and I was really impressed with the compression and sculpting technology (they are Spanx after all!), and I am really confident. They define my waist while accentuating my curves. Anyone, at any size, can pull these off! I feel great in these.
MATERIAL
The material is really made to look like leather vs. replicate the physical feel! They are not a true leather, which I prefer because these are comfortable and flexible, but still have that leather look. They feel like a thicker spandex material with a top sheen. I’ve tried other leggings that “feel” more like leather to the touch, but are uncomfortable and look kind of cheap in the end — unlike these! These look elevated, feel great, and are incredibly comfy. They have a smooth interior lining, so it’s like being in a regular pair of leggings! For $64, the amount I wear them makes the price well worth it! In my book, they are truly a steal.
So, here we go! Nora and I styled our leather leggings 4 classic ways that will transition easily into Fall in our new normal. This is only the tip of the iceberg, when it gets chilly out these are the perfect foundational layer for sweaters, jackets and more. Head over to Nora to check out how she styled hers, too!
ELEVATED AND EVERYDAY WITH A WHITE BUTTON DOWN
I feel so French in this! Here, I paired the leggings with a longer/tunic length white button down, classic cap toe block heels, and a simple headband. The length of the button down seamlessly flows with the leggings, and the block heels are fun if you have date night or a lunch with the girls. You can swap out the block heels for flats or loafers and you’ve got the perfect elevated at-home look. This is perfect for lunch or a low-key date night, as well as running errands when styled with flats on.

POLISHED AND COMFORTABLE WITH A BLAZER AND TEE
I coupled a sweater blazer and easy striped tee to create a layered feel that is super comfy, ideal for transitioning into Fall. The sweater blazer can be removed or added as a light outdoor later, and any blazer or jacket will work here! I love how this legging look can take you from being cozy at home to feeling polished for a Zoom meeting. I paired it with my Rothy’s (size up half size) for the ultimate comfort, while looking pulled together, look.

EASY AND COOL WITH A JEAN JACKET
A jean jacket is a closet staple for any woman. I love how they have come “back” in style over the last few years, and they can really tie together a leggings outfit! This is so easy, but feels and looks very intentional. I paired it with my favorite white tee (styled four ways here!) and Margaux ballet flats (available in wide), for a cool look that works at home, and easily transitions to on-the-go when you throw on the jean jacket. Perfect for a Fall day out, brunch or (safely) around town.

COZY AND CASUAL WITH A FLEECE AND SNEAKERS
My preferred look for Fall! You guys know I love my Dudley Stephens (they just had a drop and restock this week), and my favorite way to wear them is layered with leggings. This look will work with any turtleneck, sweater or pullover. Here, I am in the Park Slope (a shorter style), but leggings also look fabulous with the Cobble Hill which is more of a tunic-length fleece. Added my Tretorn sneakers to tie in the casual feel, perfect for errands and a cozy day at home.
Love these looks! I’ve been eyeing the spanx faux leather leggings for a couple of years but hadn’t really seen anyone my size modeling them, so I shied away from them. This is so helpful and I just ordered.
I love how these spanx leather leggings are so versatile. The photos look great in showing how you dress them up or keep it casual. Love them!
