Wearing the Lands’ End Seamless Legging (c/o).
It is wild how many cases of trial and error I have gone through in order to find size-inclusive activewear leggings that actually work! I’ve tried so many I lost count, but there are three brands that I trust and wear consistently. So, I am going to compare and share the pros and cons of my top 3 pairs. I also have a few pairs on my to-try list like Athleta’s new extended sizes (I used to wear them almost exclusively when I was straight-sized!). A huge problem for me is rolling at the waist, why the heck do leggings always have to roll?! Okay, here we go.
SPANX BOOTY BOOST LEGGING: BEST CUT
Spanx are a wardrobe staple for most and it’s so exciting they are expanding their activewear! A few months ago I tried their booty boost pair and got my normal size 1x, but I probably should have sized up because I was struggling a little bit in the stomach area, it was like I just needed an extra inch. They had good compression without suffocating and they were very flattering, Spanx does have a magical way of making us all look smooth! These are probably my favorite cut of the three, they make me feel fantastic but they run a little small. I also probably wouldn’t wear these as athleisure, they are a true workout legging.
LANDS’ END SEAMLESS LEGGING: BEST FOR EVERYDAY
I absolutely love these Lands’ End leggings. These are the best polished and comfortable leggings, I size up in them because they run tight in the waist. I found these to be the most versatile (and softest) pair of the three! I pair these with a causal sweater or fleece and they feel more athleisure-esque, but you have the technology to head to the gym in them, and are suited for lower impact activities! They are really the best of both worlds. I also appreciate how simple they are, just remember to size up one and you’re good to go. These also come in regular.
FABLETICS POWERHOLD LEGGING: BEST FOR THE GYM
I have been a Fabletics loyalist since 2013! Their high waisted powerhold leggings are fantastic. They are very soft but have a strong hold that make it easy to feel supported when you’re on a walk or in a class. These are probably the best overall in terms of fit, technology and comfort. These tend to feel more sporty, so they are harder to pair wear everyday if that is what you fancy! I get my normal 1x in the high-waisted options, but if they are a lower rise I usually size up (I size up in a lot of swim and activewear for comfort!).
P.S. These are my favorite everyday sneaks. I get my normal size and they work for my wide with foot!
Thank you for the tips on leggings! I could use a new pair and this list is very helpful.
