Saturday 4.25-Friday 5.1.20
Hi everyone! Well, it was a meh kind of week, but one filled with little joys and provided some growth. I had moments of hard anxiety, and nights where I didn’t fall asleep until 4am, but I also had moments that were filled with happiness. While I don’t want to harp on the negativity, I felt it was important to point out that with the good moments there is also stress, but here are some things I did to spark joy this week.
I watched Never Have I Ever on Netflix. This show you guys, IS SO GOOD. It got a ONE HUNDRED on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a coming of age comedy about a first generation Indian-American girl in high school, who lost her dad, and is trying to navigate life. It was created by Mindy Kaling and is narrated by John McEnroe! It made me laugh, cry, think, and escape.
I donated to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. Times are hard right now for so many people financially, so I donated a small amount to the GDSF. Individuals with Down Syndrome are considered high risk for Covid, and the foundation is doing an incredible job providing emergency grants and resources for those with Down Syndrome and their families.
I finished a fun canvas and started a new one! I finished the fun CHILL PILL canvas by Morgan Julia Designs, and started a few one right away. Initially I was struggling to read and needlepoint because my schedule prior to Covid was so regimented. But, their short lived absence allowed me to really realize how happy they both make me.
I made my own mask! So, I didn’t use a sewing machine, just kind of looked at a mask I had and winged it lol. But, it makes me so happy! I can hand wash it and the scallops feel Springy and fun. All I used was an old tea towel, a needle and thread, and two rubber bands! I have another tea towel in opposite colors, so may save it for another one down the road!
Made leeway in my Getting to Good Positivity Journal: This positivity journal is really wonderful. Most of my journals or devotionals are faith based, so this is a nice departure. It is really inspiring to see so many people across the internet expressing their gratitude and sharing their journals and hearts. I am relatively new to this practice, and this a guided positivity journal, great for a beginner.
I setup some decor vignettes from my own home: When we first relocated to my in-laws’, I brought two tote bags of decor with me, mainly for our kitchenette and to have a few things of my own around. Lol. Yep. We are fortunate their home has a fully functioning apartment above the garage, where we have setup our space. My in-laws’ really does feel like home to us, and we actually lived here for over a year when we found my husband’s tumor. These little touches reminded me that things as simple as a teapot can make you smile, but home really is where the heart is.
Could that mask BE any cuter??
