Canvas is by Anne Fisher Needlepoint!
After a little hiatus, Sunday Coffee has returned! If you are new around here (first off, welcome!) Sunday Coffee is where I share a little chat and life update, some Sunday shopping with my recent finds, and some Sunday reading or watching with links to articles, podcasts, or shows I’m currently into. It really is just a fun time for us to catch up over coffee as friends and take it easy.
SUNDAY CHAT
So much to catch up on! You may have noticed Andrew and I have been living down in Florida at his parents’ home with family for the last month. We decided to safely travel down here after quarantining, negative tests, and repeating. For personal reasons, we chose to relocate temporarily as it is the best decision for us, and I feel so grateful we have this option. Lately, I’ve really been enjoying taking things a little slower and focusing on creating more of a work-life balance in all areas. Whether it be with my job or Simply Elsa, doing so has allowed me to pause and just be present. Lately, Needlepoint has also been a great, cathartic process for me. Sometimes, my anxiety can be physically paralyzing, and needlepoint allows me to unplug, focus and release endorphins – kind of like exercise in a way! I always stitch, but I go through phases of being more dedicated to it, recently it has been a daily occurrence that is such a joy. A little something to focus on that doesn’t involve a phone!
PS. You can find my blog post on how to get started with Needlepoint here! I always love to support my local needlepoint store, but included online resources as well!
SUNDAY SHOPPING
Here are some great things that I’ve been eyeing:
J.CREW NEW ARRIVALS 40-50% OFF WITH CODE FLASH: It’s a gingham, tennis and spring heaven over at J. Crew! They launched a large wave of new arrivals after what felt like a few weeks without newness, and it was worth the wait. So many good, old school-inspired pieces that, for the most part, come in a full extended size range. Cannot handle it!
TUCKERNUCK EARRING ASSORTMENT: Have you seen Tuckernuck’s new earring assortment?! It is SO cute. I love all the raffia, string wrapped, and gold pieces. I have a few of these tried and true ones, and am going to snag a fun pair of the pepper earrings. I love a pop of color, can’t help it!
30% OFF LOFT + AN EXTRA 21% OFF: Loft’s new arrivals have been so lovely lately! I am obsessed with the dusty coral color they have in so much of their assortment. I usually filter the size range for plus pieces, or go right to the plus page if I am shopping there. For me, I wear their xxl with ease, but sometimes the plus proportions just work better on my body type and I will go with their 14w or 16w. Totally depends on the cut!
ONE KINGS LANE SALE SECTION: OKL has a really good sale section! I peruse it from time to time and lately, it has been looking good. They have a bunch of outdoor pillows on sale right now, that can actually be used indoors, too. I like to sort by price and see what’s included!
Here are some things in my cart:
SUNDAY READING & WATCHING
THE DOWNTON ABBEY MOVIE IS GETTING A SEQUEL: This was the news my heart has been waiting for. Anyone else a huge Downton Abbey fan?! They are making a sequel to the movie! I am so overjoyed. This article tells you everything you need to know (and wait in anticipation for).
FEEDING TEXAS: The devastation in Texas due to the weather crisis is something I know we all feel both heartbroken and concerned over. My best friend had just purchased a home in Dallas right before this and her updates have been beyond heavy on the heart. So many are without food, power and water right now. Feedingtexas.org can be a great place to make a donation which will help food pantries restock.
AN INTERVIEW WITH TIFFANY’S CHIEF GEMOLOGIST ON THE RAREST PEARL OF ALL CALLED THE MELO MELO: This article is so fascinating, maybe it’s the art historian in me, but I just loved this. Tiffany and Co. located this rare, 95 carat pearl that takes decades to grow and is an uncommon, almost coral color. This article does a Q&A with Tiffany’s chief gemologist on how they were able to find one and what it all means.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2021, OPRAH’S RESOURCES: It is so important to honor Black History Month. It is just as important we continue to understand why this honoring is critical and to educate ourselves on Black History. I found Oprah’s homepage for Black History Month 2021 to be filled with so many excellent resources, articles and tools.
HOUSE BEAUTIFUL’S NEXT WAVE OF DESIGNERS YOU SHOULD KNOW: I always wait in anticipation for the release of House Beautiful’s next wave of designers! This list shows the up and coming big names in interior design. It is so fun to see the work and styles of the designers taking the industry by storm. It is also a great way to add some new inspiration to your insta feed!
I read your blog without commenting, but today I just want to let you know I enjoy it (especially the Sunday Coffee.) Hope you’re enjoying Florida.
(I also just want to mention that maybe the links in the widget aren’t working properly. When I click on one of the pair of earrings or a top, it takes me to Pinterest. I thought it would take me to the item. Not sure if it’s on my end? I am reading on a iPad.)
Have a lovely day.
Hi Mary!
Thank you so much, I am so glad that you are an avid reader, makes me so happy. In regards to Pinterest popping up, if you click in the upper right corner for some reason it will take you to pin the image, but if you click in the center or lower half, it will take you to the item! It was my mistake because I chose smaller images instead of larger ones!
You need to watch The English Game, as that is a series also by Julian Fellowes of Downtown Abbey fame
Thank you for sharing, I will have to check it out!
