Happy Sunday! It’s actually Saturday as I am writing this, and I am curled up with a cup of coffee watching Big Love on HBO (oldie but a goodie). There’s still snow on the ground here, and the air remains oh so crisp. I absolutely love this time of year. I am smitten with the quiet feeling in the air when it snows and all the cozy that comes with it. Tonight, Andrew and I are making Nachos (half on mini peppers, half on chips), watching our cousin’s holiday concert, and playing scrabble. We’re on a board game kick right now (Trouble gets very competitive in our household) and something about simplicity is even more peace bringing than usual.
I took a hiatus from recent Sunday Coffee posts because I needed time for myself on the weekends to recharge and regroup. These posts are my absolute favorite to write, a little life update, a little bit of things I’m loving, and a little bit of things I find interesting, and all very casual. But, with the uptick in holiday campaigns, a new work schedule, and a family loss of someone very special, what my mind and body needed most was rest. And I did just that! As someone who thrives on checking things off my list, it was a bit out of my comfort zone, but I am just so glad that I did it! The simplicity is helping so much and I am applying it to a lot of areas of my life. Whether it is cleaning out my closet, our holiday, or the clutter around the apartment, keeping things simple right now is what is healthy for me!
SUNDAY SHOPPING
LOFT LOUNGEWEAR: You guys. LOFT has been killing it lately! I cannot get enough of their loungewear from Lou and Grey. I ordered myself a set and asked for a second one from Santa! They can be worn together for a chic loungewear look, or as separates. They are as soft as butter and come in regular and plus.
J.CREW SALE SECTION: Does it get any more classic than J.Crew? Their sale section right now is insane. I grabbed a few classic, solid sweaters to get me through the rest of January and February (let’s face it, probably through March, too). Makes me so glad to see they keep increasing their extended size offerings.
POTTERY BARN UP TO 50% OFF SLIPPERS AND ROBES: Pottery Barn makes plush and cozy slippers and robes. Their robes go up to an xl (or a regular 16/18) and are unisex. They seem like the perfect “gift for self” heading into the new year, and for likely continued time spent at home.
LILLY PERSONAL MASK/CARE KIT: I love this personal mask care kit from Lilly Pulitzer! It includes a keychain to open doors without contact, hand sanitizer, wipes, a mask and a clear pouch to easily store in your purse. I love how cheerful it is. Also perfect for the Lilly lover at heart who maybe isn’t one to wear the patterns, but can enjoy it this way!
Here are a few cute things (all either up to xxxl or size-inclusive) I am loving:
SUNDAY READING AND WATCHING
TIMES’ CRITICS TOP BOOKS OF 2020: I wait in anticipation for this list every year. The New York Times’ critics compile a list of their top books from 2020. I really love this because, for most of the reviews, you can’t judge a book by the cover. They rarely show the covers!
HOW TO HOST A VIRTUAL NYE PARTY: Martha Stewart knows how to do it! I love this how-to on hosting a virtual New Year’s Eve celebration. Hosting is something I miss greatly, and loved all the tips here.
LET’S ALL JUST MOVE TO A BARN, SHALL WE? HOW TWO CITY SLICKERS FOUND COUNTRY BLISS: The words! The visuals! I loved reading this. Sometimes, you don’t need to personally relate to something in order to appreciate it. While many of us are not packing up to live on a farm, this was a delightful read and look into design and happiness in a different form.
15 EASY TO CARE FOR OFFICE PLANTS: Being that both of my parents are Landscape Architects, it is ironic I know next to nothing about plants! Since we are all working from home mostly, a plant can be a nice way to spruce up your work area. I tend to do a bad job with plants, so I love this guide!
WHICH BINGEABLE HBO MAX SERIES SHOULD YOU WATCH? We loved The Flight Attendant. I will say, there were parts I didn’t appreciate, but it was a refreshing mix of a murder mystery meets comedy. Now, I am HBO Max hooked and this interactive quiz helps you find the right series for you! Fun and helpful.
All the good feels!!! This is a special time in a difficult year. If we stop and smell the roses so to speak, with a Sunday coffee, board game or book, we are taking the necessary time to recharge and regroup. Good advice, thank you!
