Smocked Maxi Dress (up to 2x), earrings, sandals (current version has bamboo buckle)
At this rate, I should start a “Summersalt” category on here! In case you’ve missed a chapter or two, I l-o-v-e Summersalt. Everything from their swimwear, to their loungewear, to their dresses have won me over. They have extended sizing, however it’s not offered in every style (I wish they would), but for the most part the assortment is size-inclusive! My favorite swimsuit style goes up to a 24 and my favorite dress, the one I will be reviewing today, goes up to a 2x! I’ve seen this dress on a handful of women, all shapes and sizes, who have all looked phenomenal. I think this could be one of those dresses that lives in your closet and you grab for any warm weather occasion. In the Spring, it would be adorable with a jean jacket or a little cardigan, too. Since I am placing a lot of hype on this dress, I felt that it deserved it’s own review! So, let’s get to it.
The quality of the dress is great. For the $135 price point, I would say that it is very well constructed and made from good materials that are well worth it! The material is not a cotton, not a silk, but a nice blend that is breathable and doesn’t wrinkle too easily. The straps almost look like they’re a silk, but they’re also a nice blend material that don’t come untied or slip the way silk does. I also think that the alternating directions of the stripes make the dress feel elevated and a little more refined! It’s also lined – can I get an amen?! Why does it feel so hard to find lined dresses these days?! Overall, I think that the Summersalt quality is great and it’s a dress that is current and on trend but will remain a classic for the years to come.
When it comes to the fit, I think Summersalt really knocked it out of the park here. I would say the dress definitely runs true to size, but if you are in-between sizes, I’d probably suggest that you go with your smaller size. I opted for the 1x in this dress since Summersalt sizing goes from XL to 1x. I’m really in-between, so I have extra room in the skirt, but I am okay with that and like the flowy fit! Most of the reviews suggest that those who order their normal size had a perfect fit. The smocking gets an A+ in my book. Mainly becuase the smocking/torso has length! You can tell they created proportions for the larger sizes and the smocking its right at the natural waist. The straps are easily adjustable too, so you can really wear it however you are most comfortable.
Overall, I give this Summersalt dress a 10/10! I think it’s cute as we head into Spring with a little jean jacket or a cardigan, and will certainly be a closet workhorse over the summer and on vacations. Stripes are a neutral in my opinion, so I think this will be super versatile. I’m heading to Mexico in May and this will be my go-to! Highly recommend. Plus, it comes in a cute blue and muted red, too!

Elsa – it’s so cute! You look great. With the length, Can you remind me of how tall you are? I’m 5’3” and wondering if I’d need to get it hemmed.
Thanks!
