This is new territory for us all. We are in the midst of a pandemic and, with COVID-19, each day seems completely different than the last. Tomorrow is Easter, and there is no church, no family gathering, and no egg hunt. Even though those things are sad to miss, I am grateful that the absence of them is keeping me and others safe. Most of all, I want to recognize those who cannot be home for Easter. All those on the frontlines keeping us protected: the doctors, nurses, first responders, and all essential workers. I am in awe of your bravery and selflessness.
Most of us are working from home and I don’t take a second for granted! That being said, I am trying to do small things to keep a fresh mindset while house bound. I am mixing up what I wear based on how I am feeling that day. Some days it is loungewear, and some days I reach for my repeat work from home look: a simple sweater and jeans. Reaching from my closet for items that are no-stress, and work in a multitude of scenarios, is the best feeling. I actually photographed this look pre-COVID, but I’ve been wearing it a ton. It is a casual combination that still feels elevated. Simple cotton sweaters and cardigans are perfect for virtual meetings, and they are machine washable.
This look is more about the mindset, and the main focus of course, being convenience and comfort. If you are in that in-between camp like me where you enjoy getting dressed, but have practicality in mind with washable and comfortable items, head to your closet, pull a simple sweater and denim, and pair it with your favorite Spring accessories. I like wearing ballet flats around the house because they are easy on easy off, but give me some normalcy, too! If you don’t have a simple cotton sweater that you love, I highly recommend this cardigan I’m wearing! It is the perfect “crop” for those, like myself, with long torsos, and it works with denim, over a dress, over a shirt and more.
I wish you all a safe, healthy, and blessed Easter. I hope we can look back on this next Easter, and be grateful for our health and communities.
