Light fixture gifted from Shades of Light
Making updates to fixtures and furniture is something that we’ve been prioritizing over the last year or so. Over the last couple of years, we realized how much we value quality time at home, it truly is our favorite thing. So, we decided that we would make updates to fixtures and furnishings bit by bit over time. One of the projects top on my list was refreshing our dining area light fixture! The previous fixture had been there since the building was constructed in 2008. I collaborated with Shades of Light on this project and I was thrilled!
Shades of Light is an amazing lighting, furnishings and decor resource. Personally, I think that Shades of Light has one of the best and most unique assortments of light fixtures around. I used to work in home decor buying, and I’m so impressed by the range of pieces, price points, and quality offered! If you love bamboo-style fixtures, they have so many chic pieces. For this space, I knew I wanted something current, yet classic. The architecture of our space is current, but I would not call it “contemporary” or modern. So I wanted something that flowed well with that, while still making a fresh impact.
Here you can see the before and after:
After chatting with Shades of Light, we decided a gold-tone lantern style piece would be the perfect fit. Our living, dining and kitchen spaces are all one large open concept room, with areas where our ceiling is recessed, too. We are so grateful that the scale of our apartment is on the larger side and very open, so a larger piece definitely works in the space. I can’t quite get an image of the entire length and scale of the room, but trust me it works! So, we ultimately landed on the Certaldo Lantern! (I’ve also rounded up similar fixtures at lower price points starting at $230 from Shades of Light below, you need not get a fixture at the Certaldo price point, there are so many great options available) We felt the size, materials, design and overall vibe were perfect for the space. I love how the piece brightens up the space (literally and figuratively), it makes it feel so fresh, current and intentional.
The before and after makes me so happy, the space still feels familiar, but updated and more in-line with our personal style. It really transformed the entire room, making a statement while feeling understated. Everytime we walk in our front door, I love it so much and it makes the space so comfortable and happy. As promised, here are some similar styles at various price points from Shades of Light: Emerson Small Lantern, Debonair Pendant, Harrington Large Lantern, Lustre en Transition Lantern, Polished Nickel Simple Pagoda Lantern, Bella Lantern.
Whatever your decor or lighting needs are, I highly recommend checking them out! I want to thank Shades of Light again for collaborating with me on this and gifting the Certaldo Lantern!
A significant upgrade. The Certaldo Lantern truly shines!!
