Size-Inclusive Blouse (xxs-3x), Size-Inclusive Denim, Bag, Similar Flats
Happy Monday, guys! Elsa here. I did a big edit of my closet recently, and tried a new approach where I pulled the items I love and wear the most first, then sorted the balance for either donation or storage. It was really cathartic to say farewell to items I haven’t worn in years and narrow things down to pieces I feel great in time after time. It really shed light on the fact that even though I adore a fun statement dress or skirt, and wear them often, my everyday or go-to style consists of elevated casual items like denim, blouses, and flats.
Regardless of what your everyday look is, I find it is so helpful to have a few no-stress, no-brainer options of your go-to styles you can reach for over and over. Denim, blouses, and ballet flats check those boxes for me. I have built up feel-good options for these categories and always have an outfit I can run out the door in, dressed up or down with the right accessories. No matter the color or pattern, for me it boils down to silhouette and comfort level. It can be hard to find staple options you love. So when I find things that work for my body, I usually grab it two colorways. You do not need 100 blouses, just the right blouses.
So let’s get down to why I love denim, blouses, and ballet flats. A large part of why I gravitate towards ballet flats is for comfort and ease. I think they look so darling, but more importantly, my feet get uncomfortable quickly, so well-made, structured flats (like Margaux, FSNY, or for long-term investment, Chanel) are how I feel tidy, chic, and comfortable. Denim can boost my confidence ten-fold if I find the right fit and wash. I like straight or skinny denim without rips or significant color variegation. The straight simple style elongates me and is easier to dress up if needed! I then pair my denim with a blouse, I love flowy or a-line styles. If it is fitted in the shoulders, loose in the body, and works with my chest I feel great. There is a fine line between flowy and billowy, so I when I find tops that flow well yet feel structured, I grab it.
Once I realized that these items are what I feel best in, over time I made sure I had several on hand because they work in almost any situation. For example, I have about five season-less blouses, each in a couple colors, I can put on with any denim and be on my way. You do not even need that many truth be told. In the end, having easy options that work for your everyday life makes things a lot smoother. If for some reason I oversleep, am not feeling my best, or do not have time to pull together a look, this easy formula is stress-free and I am guaranteed to feel good. Whatever that means for you, over time focus on building up a few options of your easy, polished go-to’s you can turn to in a pinch.
*p.s.- My bucket bag is packable! It un-zips and lays flat in your suitcase. Game changer.
You look fabulous.
Thank you, Agnes!
