As you can tell, we are still down in Florida! Truthfully, we planned on coming for about 6 weeks, maybe 8. Low and behold, we are very happily still here. I’m asked every day if we are moving here and we’re not (never say never). This New Jersey born and bred couple loves the Northeast, and we’re grateful to have my in-laws here when we need a change of pace in this Floridian oasis. What being here has taught me, however, is that I need to slow down and take more unplugged time for myself without constantly “doing”. Getting outside each day for just that has felt like a giant metaphorical and literal exhale. I could ask myself why I haven’t been doing this all along, but instead I am just glad that I’ve figured it out!
I’ve also been able to focus more on my mental health, which truthfully has been a struggle for me lately. I have generalized anxiety disorder, so most days I just run anxious without reason, and the smallest tasks can feel paralyzing. I’m working on it (I have been for years) and I’ve learned to ask for support when I need it. I’m thankful to have access to my doctor and a strong support system in my husband, family and friends. It’s okay to have good days and bad days, what matters most is that we recognize them and process in healthy ways unique to us. On a lighter note, I’ve also learned that tennis skirts are my bottoms of choice even when I’m not in full on athleisure. Something about a skort just speaks to my soul, and with summer coming up, rest assured I’ll be doing a full roundup of my favorites soon!
I’ll also be sharing my skin regime soon as well, I have been having so much fun testing and trying new products over the last couple of months. I really like where I am with it and look forward to it every morning and night! Something about those ten minutes for myself and my skin feel like a mini trip to the spa and I’m here for it. Follain kindly sent me over their terry cloth headband, and I know it’s simply a headband, but I am telling you it really completes the “spa” vibe for me! When we head home to New Jersey in about a month, I will certainly miss it here, but I’m looking forward to implementing these elements into my day to day up North. Whether it be getting outside for an hour, solely wearing tennis skirts, unplugging without worry, or terry cloth headbands, I will be returning with a happy heart.
I love a terry headband! Mine are so worn out, I’ll have to try Follain! Take care of yourself!
So glad you’re having a good time! Can’t wait to hear more about your skincare picks
So glad you’ve had a good stay in Florida and have worked “unplugging” into your routine! Life on the beach helps that, and I love that periwinkle blue swimsuit on you!!
You have looked like you are thriving in Florida! Would love to read about tennis skirt choices, I need to add one or two to my collection.
