Top (30% off), denim (size 34), Flats (10% off with SIMPLYELSA10), earrings
I think I will forever be a denim, blouse and ballet flat kind of gal! But once mid-November hits, I become a denim, tartan blouse and ballet flat kind of gal. I was so excited this year because J.Crew released my favorite top in a red tartan (worn here in black and here in pink)! With a lot of virtual parties, scaled down holidays and festivities at home, I thought I’d share my favorite top and how I style ruffles and tartans with curves. I think, it may be the only red tartan top I’ll ever need (don’t quote me on that!).
Firstly, you don’t need to have any kind of figure to pull off tartan, anyone and any body can! Whenever I style a bold tartan, I usually keep the rest of the look simple, I think it creates balance and flows well with my figure! I styled this particular top with my favorite dark rinse toothpick jeans. The streamline in toothpick denim really compliments the bolder nature of the blouse. Since I chose to not wear a heel, I went with a pointed flat to add a special moment. If you need a good everything flat– these are it (come in wide, excellent quality and comfort). There’s also something about pearls and a little glam that just makes tartan pop! So naturally I chose these earrings.
Let’s get to the top itself! At first, this blouse might seem boxy, but it’s not. It is not flowy, it’s made of poplin, but it’s a nice length and not too wide. I am in-between sizes and sized up to a 2x for comfort, the arms and length are perfect. I would say it runs true to size, but if you are in-between go up one. The ruffle collar is not constricting at all and wears comfortably on my larger neck. I think it’s so cute and would look great on everyone! I ended up having extra room, and I am happy with it and it works perfectly.
