My entire outfit is size-inclusive! Details at the end of the post.
Hi guys! As Summer is coming to a close, I am ready for those Fall layers. However, we aren’t quite there yet. Light layers are ideal as we head into this in-between-seasons stage! This time of year, I love to layer light cardigans and sweaters. But, my favorite thing to layer heading into Fall? A simple striped tee! There are a few ways you can layer a striped tee. The more classic way is to use one as a base layer like I did here. But, this closet staple also makes for a great top layer during the “it’s still a little too warm to wear a sweater” interim!
My trick to wearing a striped tee as a top layer is easy. Just wear a sleeveless bottom layer with a structured collar! Sometimes a white long or mid-sleeve shirt can add extra bulk. Don’t get me wrong, when you pair a long-sleeve shirt with a sweater or blazer, it works because the top layer is a thicker material that is usually not as fitted as a cotton tee! Eliminating the sleeves at the base layer makes for a lightweight, bulk-free combination! It also more breathable this way, making it ideal for when we *wish* it was in the 70s, but it is still very much in the 80s. I also love to use this trick with fitted cotton cardigans like I did here. So flattering and creates a really smooth effect.
I have a few favorite striped tees, in this case I layered my go-to breton with my favorite sleeveless size-inclusive shirt (regular, petite and plus)! This shirt is the best for layering, with everything. My breton goes up to a size 20, but for true plus sizes I also love these. I wear my stripes year round, but a blue and white stripe can air on the summery side. So to make this a more transitional look, I wore mine with the best curvy-fit blue jeans. I kept a nod to summer with my sandals and hat! Other easy ways to layer your striped tee into fall would be with a plaid scarf, with a cute vest like this, or with any sweater blazer/jacket too!
Love the layered look with a good stripe top or sweater. All so cute!
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who layers with sleeveless tops!!! I don’t know how people layer with long sleeved shirts. It needs to be freezing weather before I do that! Love your post!
You are the cutest!! This looks like a lovely little English garden– so pretty.
