Chambray shell, white jeans, Margaux flats, woven bag, raffia earrings
Oh my gosh I am SO happy it’s MAY. I love this time of year, things just feel crisp and fresh with the promise of warmer weather on the way. Being in Florida for so long, I really leaned into my resort wear and brighter colored pieces more than I typically do (and let’s be real, I loved every moment of it), ha! Gearing up for Summer, I’m ready for all of the stripes, gingham, blues, whites and neutrals. I still love pops of color and pretty patterns, but there’s something about chambray that’s so simple yet feels more fun than your run of the mill cotton. One of my absolute favorite combinations is white denim and chambray, especially for this time of year. I saw this chambray swing tank online and I initially told myself it likely wouldn’t jive on me, but then I saw it in store and boy was I wrong. I absolutely love this top!
Sometimes shell style tops and tanks can be hard. I feel like I’m in an ongoing battle with oversized armholes and feeling constricted in the hips. But, this one just hangs so well! The armholes are large enough that things are comfortable, but not too big that you can see the entire side profile of your bra. It has an a-line silhouette so, instead of being a straight shell, it’s loose over the hips and hangs nicely. It also has a really great length! The back of the top has an adjustable tie at the neck, so you can loosen or tighten as needed. It’s also insanely comfy and easy to care for.
My favorite part about this tank? The a-line, roomy fit doesn’t look like a tent! It definitely hangs in a tent-ish manner due to the silhouette, but TRUST ME when I say this is not a “omg I look like a tent” situation. Not one bit. I found this ran a little big, so I went down one size to an XL (and I’m a tried and true XXL in J.Crew). My general piece of advice would be to size down one in this one, but if you have concerns about your chest being on the larger side, I’d order your regular size. If it’s too big, an easy exchange will do the trick!
I can also think of countless ways I’ll wear this shell well into the Fall. With white jeans, with a darker rinse denim, tucked into a cute midi skirt, under a cardigan, under a chic blazer with work pants, and the options to accessorize it are pretty endless. Here, I paired the top with my favorite straight leg white denim, raffia earrings, woven purse and Margaux pointe flats. If you’re looking for quality, classic shoes that also come in wide widths, Margaux is my number one recommendation and completely worth it. I have a code that will snag you 10% off your Margaux order! I get the wide width and am happy as a clam. Needless to say, this will be an effortless grab and wear top for summer.
I love a good chambray tank! Now the question is how many chambray tops is too many chambray tops?? Asking for me..lol
Did you find yourself having to break in the Margaux flats?
