Shoes are so universal, yet they can be hard to find– especially if you have wide feet! I am somewhere in between a medium and wide width, and can usually size up half a size if a medium shoe is too narrow (anything from Rothy’s to my Chanel flats). Truth be told, sometimes a lot of “wide” or “comfort” shoes just aren’t that cute. A lot of plus size women, or even taller women, or just women with naturally wide feet, have it a little harder when it comes to finding chic shoes that don’t hurt. So, I rounded up some of my favorite shoes for wide widths that bring equal parts cute and comfort for summer.
CLASSIC: JACK ROGERS WIDES
The ultimate summer shoe! You really can’t go wrong with Jack Rogers, they go with everything. They make a wide width in their classic sandal, it really increases the comfort level. They do take a few weeks to break in, but once you do, you’ll have the same pair for years, and they will become a second (sturdy) skin.
CASUAL: BIRKENSTOCK ARIZONA
I am so glad Birks have had a resurgence in recent years. IMO, they are the most comfortable sandal that provides great support. The classic Birk is definitely casual, but I love to pair mine with anything from jeans and a tee to a cute summer dress.
BALLET FLATS: MARGAUX DEMI
No matter what I am doing, where I am going, or what I am wearing, my Margaux ballet flats are my go-to shoe. I have the classic and demi styles, but demi is definitely my favorite. They are beyond comfortable, and no summer shoe wardrobe is complete without a pair of simple ballet flats!
ESPADRILLES: VIONIC KAITLYN WEDGE
Espadrilles are a summer staple! Last year, Vionic sent me a pair of sandals, and let me tell you, the comfort lives up to the hype. Shortly thereafter I acquired a pair of their espadrilles, and I feel like I could run around in them all day. They are a great height, too. Not too tall, not too short, just right for long-lasting comfort.
SLIDES: SAM EDELMAN BAY SLIDES
Slides have become more and more popular in recent years, and I love the look. But, a lot of times sides hit over the widest part of our feet. So I was so happy when Sam Edelman made a wide width in this hermes-style slide. So cute!
BLOCK HEELS: MARGAUX CITY SANDAL
Block heels are perfect for summer! They are so versatile, you can wear them casually and they are ideal for summer weddings while walking on grass. Margaux is a quality shoe. Period. They may seem like an investment, but they are WORTH IT. They will forever be one of my most loved shoes, because they are well made and constructed for my wide feet.
HIGH HEELS: MARGAUX UPTOWN SANDAL
I know large gatherings are on hold, but if you are a bride, a bridesmaid or attending something a little more formal (or if you’re just a heels gal), these are for you. To echo what I just said, Margaux heels are beautifully constructed and do not change their quality for wider widths.
LOAFER: TALBOTS TAYLOR DRIVING MOC
One of my favorite summer looks is a cable knit sweater, white jeans, and loafers! A year-round classic. Talbots has an excellent assortment of wide width shoes, and their loafers and driving mocs are perfect for summer with their punchy colors. The leather also breaks in nicely!
SNEAKERS: KEDS BRETON STRIPE
I have a few coveted sneaker brands, but Keds are a long-standing classic that look good with all styles (dresses, shorts, cover ups etc), and come in a variety of widths. When I think of a summer sneaker, I think lightweight and breezy, but one that also has support. Keds do both! I think this stripe pair is just TOO CUTE.
BOAT SHOE: SPERRY ORIGINAL
I love a classic boat shoe! I think they feel so old school and, to me, they’ve never really gone out of style. If you are near the water, or want a comfortable shoe that is something in between a sneaker and a flat, this is the shoe for you. They also last years!
I’m in trouble…I want one of each!
Thanks for this post, I really struggle with shoes as my foot looks like it could fit a second pinkie!! For the Margaux sandal is wide actually noticeably wide? I always struggle with sandals with a front strap!
Yes! I have the Margaux shoes in wide and they are properly wide in width.
Thank you!
Love the shoe options. Always looking for something that seems comfy, stylish and fits my temperamental toes!!
