Happy Friday! I took a bit of a needlepoint hiatus over the last two months. Life has been crazy, I’m sure you can all relate! But the other day I picked up a canvas and got lost in the process. It is so cathartic and lovely to sit down and create something beautiful. I love to stitch in chilly months under a blanket in our bay window. So, I began looking for some canvases for the Fall season! As I was searching, I reminded myself these are made to order and it is hard to find cute canvases under $100! Needlepoint is worth the price in my opinion, becuase you will have the finished canvas forever.
Fall Canvases? Why now?
Well, most canvases, even if they are “in stock” can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months to deliver! Most are made to order. They are likely hand painted and truly works of art.
These are cute, but where do I start?
If you are new to needlepoint, don’t feel intimidated or overwhelmed! I have a blog post here on how to get started. It is simple to learn the basic stitches, and with practice, you’ll get the hang of it in no time. The world of needlepoint ranges from simple beginner canvases and stitches, to advanced museum worthy projects with a lot in-between! Needlepoint.com also has great tutorial videos! It is all about finding the right rhythm for you.
Sadly the Oh Crepe is sold out, but I rounded up some true Fall canvases that are IN STOCK and are under $100! There were many I wanted to include, but were on pre-order. Also, Krista is gearing up to launch her needlepoint brand, Penny Linn Designs, and has really cute basket needleminders! A friendly reminder to order the proper fibers for the canvas mesh size! I get my fibers from Needlepoint.com.
Belgian Loafer by Jessica Tongel Designs, image via Jessica Tongel. Time to swap out your Jack Rogers for your loafers! I love the belgian shoes and the leopard makes me want to put on corduroys and a barbour. $58
Japanese Inlet by Susan Roberts Needlepoint, image via The Needlepointer. I love this Japanesque canvas, the green and red hues bring a little Fall feel into a traditional blue and white chinoiserie. $78
Bean Boot by Needlepainters, image via needlepainters. It doesn’t get more Fall than a Bean Boot! This is a great starter canvas and a cute ornamet. $35-54
Fox and Hound by Ramsay Gourd/Tricia Heaton, From Lycette Designs , image via Lycette Designs. This is so cute! It could be a great eyeclass case or zip pouch. The large blocks of color paried with the detailed animals make it ideal for a beginner looking to take the next step. $90
Land Rover Truck by Harbor Needlepoint, image via Harbor Needlepoint. How cute is this! It reminds me of Vermont and classic New England in the fall. Also a sweet canvas to frame for a boy’s room. $40
Cableknit Sweater by Sara Fitz Studio, image via Sarah Fitz Studio/Needlepoint.com. So Fall! I just want to stitch this fisherman sweater while wearing a fisherman’s sweater with a big cup of coffee! $60
Cowgirl Cowhide by Morgan Julia Designs, image Via Morgan Julia. This would be such a cute clutch for Fall! I would even stitch the white area in a hunter green to really make it an autumnal color palette. $72
Shh No one Cares by Silverstich Needlepoint, image Via Silverstitch. This may be out of stock, but I message the sho and ask them for custom things a lot! This may not feel “Fall” but it is VERY quarantine lol. $83
Foxhead Luggage Tag by Pip and Roo Needleworks, image via Pip and Roo. I grew up in the town where the Far Hills Race Meeting, better known as “the hunt”, takes place. I rode horses growing up and fox hunts (no foxes were actually harmed) were common! This just feels so nostalgic and fall to me. $50
Personalized Name Pennant! By my friend Etaylor Needlepoint, image via Etaylor needlepoint. Pennants make me think of college and old school traditions. Although students most likely cannot return right now, this would be an adorable project for anyone with an association to a university or alma matter. $55
Fishing Basket by Pip and Roo Needleworks. Image via Pip and Roo. This is so precious! This is so precious! I know a lot of people who fish through October and this bag also reminds me of a hunting bag, too! It feels like a fall version of the summery basket canvases we see often.
Gilmore Girls LUKE’s Coffee Mug by Stitches in the District, image via Stitches in the District. This is a NEED. I found this canvas from a friend, Colleen, in my needlepoint group who is also a GG fan. I wish I lived in Stars Hollow. This makes me think of cozy fall days with a cup of coffee at Lukes.
Such cute needlepoint canvasses! The process is interesting and does seem relaxing. I have a needlepoint piano bench covering dated 1943 by my great-aunt. Needlepoints make such wonderful family heirlooms.
Love the Oh Crepe
