Top (similar top here and here), skirt (size up), tights, boots, earrings
I am just so incredibly excited for the holidays! I know there are a lot of things that can feel overwhelming his time of year, sales, gift guides, outfits etc., all of which I am guilty of! I think it’s super important to remember that you really don’t need anything. It’s all here to act as a helpful resource for you to better navigate this time of year if you do need or want anything, and most importantly, as a source of inspiration and joy! That being said, I hope that when you come here and visit all my holiday content, you know that it’s meant to lift you up and add a little cheer to your day!
Despite my wardrobe being more and more neutral as I get older, when it comes to the holidays, I love all the plaid, all the velvet and a little sparkle. I wanted to share this outfit because it’s comprised of two incredibly easy pieces: a tartan top and simple velvet skirt. I love holiday looks comprised of multiple pieces because once the season ends, you can take the neutral pieces like the velvet skirt and continue to wear it through the winter. Something about this outfit was so effortless to put together, but I think it looks elevated and festive. Plus, both pieces come in extended sizes. The top I think is sold out in some sizes, but I love this similar one and this one as well.
Thus far, I’ve worn this top (similar one here) with jeans, faux leather leggings, and this very velvet skirt. It’s an incredibly versatile holiday blouse! I think the proportions are also very well done here. The puff sleeve is on-trend and slightly oversized, without being too big or too long in the arms. Nothing worse than when the arms are way too long or baggy on a top! The little ruffle detail/neck is comfortable and breathable, too. I took an XL in this top and it fit like a dream.
The velvet skirt is also a great length, its not quite a mini on me, but its not knee length either. I usually am a size 16 in J.Crew, but I sized up to an 18 in this skirt, it was a little looser but I wanted a little more room and I love the fit. I’d suggest sizing up in this period! The reviews agree. I sized up and absolutely love it. Overall, I think this is an effortless and festive look perfect for anything from a holiday party to a date night or just a festive day around town.

The velvet skirt and tartan top look festive and fabulous!! Such great pieces to mix and match even with other pieces throughout the entire season. Thank you for sharing!
Love this look. Any other velvet skirt recommendations? J.Crew only has it in size 0 or 00. Thanks!
