Sweater (large), turtleneck (extra-large), jeans (33), glasses
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I wanted to share a super cozy and low-key look perfect for a casual setting. This year, Andrew and I have two Thanksgivings! One will be with my immediate family here in New Jersey and the other with Andrew’s immediate family down in Florida. We’re having the New Jersey Thanksgiving at our own apartment and I’m so excited to host. We’ve owned our apartment for about 6 years with a brief stint in NYC, and years later it will be our very first time hosting a family holiday (we moved into our apt for a year, and our condo building allowed us to briefly lease it to a family for a year or so while we needed to live in the city, and then we moved back in and have been here ever since)! I love family traditions that are passed down as well as building new ones, and my family is going to do a lot of board games and brisk walks around town this Thanksgiving!
In an effort to be comfortable throughout games, cooking and all that’s in-between (lots of turkey), I decided to keep things super casual this year with jeans and a cute chunky sweater. I was at Short Hills a couple of weeks ago and saw this sweater in the window at Madewell, and immediately thought Thanksgiving! It also gives me major Meg Ryan Fall vibes, if you know you know. I tried it on and immediately fell in love. It definitely runs big, I sized down from my usual XL at Madewell to a large and it’s still considerably roomy!
I layered this chunky knit with a thin cotton turtleneck in a neutral stripe (regular and plus). I love how the neutrals play off one another and make what might be considered a plain sweater pop. One of my all time favorite color combinations is black and brown, and black jeans feel a little more elevated than blue jeans to me, so I opted for some black denim. I love how the look came together in the end. If this is too casual, you could sub out the jeans for an above the knee skirt like this one or with a cute pair of black pants! Overall, I hope this outfit gives you some inspiration to layer and be cozy if you’re looking for a casual but pulled together look this thanksgiving!
